This is Eddie Bloomberg
While working as an underage, unofficial gopher/assistant for his aunt Marla’s film company, Eddie grew to idolize the resident stuntman, who soon became the magical superhero Blue Devil totally on accident. While Blue Devil was ambivalent about being a hero, Eddie was not, and used his brilliance with electronics to craft his own super-suit, dubbing himself Kid Devil.
Eddie’s time as a would-be sidekick was brief, though. After Marla’s tragic death, Blue Devil—who unwittingly played a part in the fatal accident—distanced himself from Eddie in shame. Eddie had no idea Blue Devil had been involved at all and started unwaveringly loyal over the next few years, but found himself rejected as a potential hero time and time again. Only a deal with an actual devil—the demon Neron, that is—kicked him up to the Teen Titan A-team, thanks to actual superpowers, along with a demon-y appearance.
As a Titan, Eddie found out the truth about Blue Devil’s untrustworthiness, had some crushes, made some friends (and lost his best one, Zachary Zatara), changed his name to Red Devil, and finally died to save San Francisco.
Now Eddie is Caleb Lippmann
Caleb is a nice Jewish kid from a semi-rural town in upstate New York. His family is solidly middle class, comfortable without tons of room for extras, but he’s never found himself wanting for much—other than excitement.
His nice town, nice family, and nice life are boring.
So he’s trying to change that. For one, after he graduates high school he plans to study film and visual effects in New York City, which is automatically a thousand times more exciting than his hometown. He also might—might—be rooming with his pen-pal, who is much hotter, much Frencher, and much richer than Caleb, and they’ve never even met in person before. P.S. Caleb has a crush on him. This might exciting in the wrong way.
